Fatima Edwards

Fatima Edwards is the daughter of Roxann Edwards and Trinidadian Lance Edwards Sr.  She currently attends Delaware State University (DSU) majoring in biology and chemistry. She is classified a second semester freshman because she already had acquired 15 general education credits in high school through the DSU’s early bird program.  She is also a part of the Delaware State University Honors Program. Some of the benefits she acquired post graduating from Polytech High School is that she received her dental assistant certification and knowledge of running a successful business internship.

Fatima is not only rigorously involved in the classroom. She was a Lady Panther girls’ basketball player since her freshman year, and has participated on varsity since her sophomore year, where she was captain. At DSU, she is currently in the process of running for freshman class vice president and in the process of creating her own nonprofit empowerment organization on campus. She also has the wonderful opportunity to be working on a cure for sickle cell disease at DSU in the chemistry laboratories.

Fatima is also a major advocate in her community. Her service includes: the Delta Sigma Theta GEMS program, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Boys and Girls Club of Kent County Delaware Preventive Coalition, and the Teens in Perspective Youth Group. Fatima, most importantly, is a strong Christian woman who fellowships at Mount Zion AME church in Dover, Delaware. Post graduation, Fatima desires to attend Johns Hopkins Medical School to acquire her doctorate degree. Her long term goal is to become a general pathologist and work at the Center of Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
